“Exploring Flavor Through Community”

Westland is rooted in the principle that whiskey is fundamentally an expression of place. If pursued with integrity and the thoughtful intention to seek out and emphasize the flavor characteristics of one’s local environment, a whiskey can become the unique essence of that place, distilled. We are also rooted in the belief that our whiskey is just one expression of our regional terroir and that our culture and community contribute to how we make our whiskey and the flavors we can bring to it.

The Westland Cask Exploration Series showcases many facets of Pacific Northwest terroir and culture. While the whiskey captures the flavor of our unique five-malt barley blend and the influence of our maritime climate, in this series, it’s the cask finishing that gives voice to so much more of the Pacific Northwest story. 

Our region has a long history of craft brewing and wine-making, with dozens of long-standing and highly acclaimed breweries and wineries that have made their names. Continuing in the Northwest tradition of being at the forefront of new ideas, Westland has partnered with notable, like-minded producers from both industries to exchange casks and ideas and explore the impact casks have on flavor. 

The Cask Exploration Series reflects the shared efforts and sensibilities of a community of passionate producers, all of whom have dedicated themselves to the pursuit of flavor through their craft. Each crafts their expression of Pacific Northwest terroir, and through their efforts, they create a rich “cultural terroir” in which we are all connected. As we continue this series, each edition will bring nuances and flavors unique to this place.

Westland Beer Cask Finish and Westland Wine Cask Finish are two new products that will join Westland Flagship as ongoing offerings in our portfolio of whiskeys. We hope you’ll join us on this rewarding expedition, as each whiskey is an exploration unto itself.
